A Grouse Mountain Proposal & Other Grouse Grind Event Ideas

The primary reason for doing the Grouse Grind is the hike, of course. However, if you are looking for a unique place (and way) to celebrate a new milestone in your life, or to break from the norm when planning an upcoming event, you may have stumbled upon the perfect ground to do so. Before you finalize your calendar for the year ahead, consider the world famous trail for any of the following.

Marriage Proposal

If you and your loved one are big time outdoor enthusiasts, and have grown your relationship while getting dirty on the Grind (shoes, that is…get your head out of the gutter) then we can’t imagine a better place to pop the question.

Plan the proposal during slower times of the day unless going viral on social media is a part of your plan. Also, know exactly which marker you want to do it on. Too early will dilute some of the cachet, while asking at the peak may be cliche. Instead, consider proposing at the three-quarter mark, after you’ve worked up a good sweat. If you really want to go all out, have friends sneak up ahead of time and decorate around the marker (rose petals on the ground, etc.) and hide nearby to film, snap pics, and protect the decor. Once there, get down on bended knee (a great excuse to rest) and prepare to spend the rest of your life with a fellow Grindaholic.

Birthday

Do you, a friend, or a loved one have a milestone birthday coming up? It doesn’t matter if you or they are turning 30, 40, 50, 60, or 70 because if in good shape, doing the Grouse Grind for the first time is an amazing way to tell Father Time that you’ve got no regard for his work.

If you’re considering this for a friend or family member, make a real birthday gift of it. Sign them up for a Grouse Grind guided tour with our group and let us know it’s for a birthday. We’ll make sure it’s an extra special one (and including a FREE Grindaholic t-shirt!), complete with photos and birthday cake at the peak. That way they can have their cake and eat it too, without the guilt thanks to the calories burned on the way up.

Corporate Retreat / Team Building

Is your company or organization in desperate need of some team building? Find traditional ideas such as “break down trust barrier” games and booze cruises lame, ineffective, and antiquated? Then you’ve come to the right place!

Having your organizational hierarchy do the Grind is a great way to get staff and stakeholders actually excited about a corporate team building adventure. Doing the Grouse Grind together has all of the ingredients you need to ramp up morale and productivity - encouragement, support, friendly competitiveness, mental and physical fitness, and most of all - fun! Once you’ve all reached the top, you can extend your affair and partake in one of the other company cost effective experiences on the mountain.

Grindaholic offers group rates on our guided hiking tours so be sure to have your HR book a date at your earliest convenience.
